This resource took the form of an instructional website (<a href="http://blendedlearning.businesscatalyst.com">http://blendedlearning.businesscatalyst.com</a>) which, at the moment is hosted independently but will eventually sit on the UAL Moodle site. A clear aim of the project was to make the site different from YouTube and Lynda. To test the legitimacy and relevance of the site, students were invited to attend one of two specifically arranged ‘Introduction to Adobe Illustrator’ workshops, then reflect upon their learning and use the revision resource in the comfort of their own home. As a secondary comparative exercise, three students who had previously attended the same workshop within the last six months were also invited to use the site independently. Analysis of the responses given so far shows that students were aware that the site was designed as a post classroom revision resource; and that given some minor adjustments to the format, such a resource would be a welcome addition to their learning tools. Students noted that the website was ‘tailored to our needs’ and that ‘the post-workshop website is able to give you the basics of the program's capabilities and allow the user to undergo their own creative process, instead of learning like mimicking’. The findings have implications for the constantly evolving provision of learning in the Digital Media Technical Resource area. By avoiding the repetition of basic teaching, the department technicians can draw on their specialist expertise and provide the students with an elevated level of teaching and learning.</p> https://process.arts.ac.uk/content/can-online-revision-platform-compliment-learning-classroom#comments Camberwell College of Arts Adobe blended learning CLTAD Teaching Development Projects Digital Skills Learning Teaching & Enhancement https://process.arts.ac.uk/crss/node/2602 Wed, 25 May 2016 00:00:38 +0000 EDW13381092 2602 at https://process.arts.ac.uk The Google Garage - Digital Skills Free courses https://process.arts.ac.uk/content/google-garage-digital-skills-free-courses <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-thumb"> <h3 class="field-label">Thumbnail</h3> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item"><img class="imagefield imagefield-field_thumb" width="120" height="89" alt="" src="https://process.arts.ac.uk/sites/default/files/imagefield_main/screen_shot_2016-03-23_at_11.18.38_am.png?1458732470" /></div> </div> </div> https://process.arts.ac.uk/content/google-garage-digital-skills-free-courses#comments Digital Literacies Digital Skills Online Collaborative Practice and WebMaking Online Identity Online Practice Resources The Google Garage Digital Web development https://process.arts.ac.uk/crss/node/2583 Wed, 23 Mar 2016 11:29:14 +0000 cfollows 2583 at https://process.arts.ac.uk Tech City CEO Gerard Grech on Britain’s digital ambition https://process.arts.ac.uk/content/tech-city-ceo-gerard-grech-britain%E2%80%99s-digital-ambition <div class="field field-type-emvideo field-field-emvideo"> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item odd"> <a href="/content/tech-city-ceo-gerard-grech-britain%E2%80%99s-digital-ambition"><img src="http://img.youtube.com/vi/8XLBH4s-DIA/0.jpg" alt="See video" title="See video" width="120" height="90" /></a> </div> </div> </div> <div> <div> The internet of things, the importance of digital skills and hopes for the tech industry under the new UK government were just some of the themes Tech City chief execituve Gerard Grech discussed with The Drum following his recent talk at Digital Shoreditch. </div> </div> <p>Grech, who joined Tech City last February from Blackberry, said that while the Coalition government “did a lot” for technology such as introducing policies to ensure growth, he has even greater hopes for the industry under the Conservatives.</p> <p>“I want to see even more companies grow and scale and become international superstars and I think this government is very much focussed on the creation of new businesses but also on the growth of scale up businesses and it’s something that I’m very much looking forward to,” he said. </p> <p>In terms of innovation Grech is most excited about the internet of things, which he said has “huge transformative power” in the way services are delivered to consumers as well as citizens.</p> <p>The future for Britain’s tech industry is bright according to Grech who said that while the country has seen great growth in London, cities outside the capital are also proving their worth in a variety of areas.</p> <p>“Perception is rapidly changing and we are seeing emerging tech expertise and critical masses of expertise right across the country,” he said. “Cambridge is doing very well in hardware, Bristol is doing extremely well in robotics and automotive tech, Greater Manchester in data science, Belfast in cyber security, and Edinburgh fintech. It’s just mushrooming right across the country.”</p> <p>To address the digital skills gap Tech City launched the Digital Business Academy four months ago to help those interested in the sector learn the latest digital marketing and digital developments and to help them connect in to digital companies. So far over 12,000 UK residents have signed up to the scheme.</p> <p>Read more here -</p> https://process.arts.ac.uk/content/tech-city-ceo-gerard-grech-britain%E2%80%99s-digital-ambition#comments CCW Digital MakerSpace Digital Skills Gerard Grech Tech City Tech Industry Collaborations Digital https://process.arts.ac.uk/crss/node/2494 Tue, 16 Jun 2015 09:10:26 +0000 cfollows 2494 at https://process.arts.ac.uk DIALOGUE 02: CCW Digital Enhancement staff development event https://process.arts.ac.uk/content/dialogue-02-ccw-digital-enhancement-staff-development-event <div class="field field-type-filefield field-field-thumb"> <h3 class="field-label">Thumbnail</h3> <div class="field-items"> <div class="field-item"><img class="imagefield imagefield-field_thumb" width="120" height="90" alt="" src="https://process.arts.ac.uk/sites/default/files/imagefield_main/pathumb_dialogue_02.jpg?1427477408" /></div> </div> </div> https://process.arts.ac.uk/content/dialogue-02-ccw-digital-enhancement-staff-development-event#comments CCW Digital Learning Teaching Enhancement DIALOGUE DIALOGUE.
