Fahari : a Swahili word, symbolising a passion for prestige, splendour, magnificence, and elegance.
As part of
Unseen Dimensions: Emerging Tanzanian Design, an exhibition showcasing five exciting new fashion creatives from Tanzania. Embracing the diversity of design and inspired by the country’s vibrancy and zeal, Unseen Dimensions will act as a platform from which to promote the dynamism of Tanzania’s growing fashion market.
Featuring silhouettes from Tanzania’s emerging fashion talent, including Norway based Tanzanian label, Odd is Bold, and menswear designer, Sheria Ngowi, the rich culture and heritage of the country exudes through the clothing design and the use of traditional textiles. With the unique tailoring and individual narrative of each designer, Unseen Dimensions combines tradition and craftsmanship with innovation and contemporary questions of Tanzanian identity.
The exhibition will be situated in the opulent surroundings of the Tanzanian High Commission opposite Bond Street Station, where the installation design will explore movement, spatial alignment, and how the body and dress inhabit personal space, allowing room for the true ‘Fahari’ passion to radiate.
