Some information about a forthcoming event at Ligatus can be found here. I am going to give a brief introduction to the culture of free software and the development model of open source. I am hoping to start some discussion on why education and research requires open source software, so I would be grateful for contributions from anybody with views/interest on the subject. Finally, I will bring a few memory sticks to the meeting with live images of different flavours of GNU/Linux for people to try on their laptops.
