A cross UAL collaboration project between, DIAL, SEE, Development & Learning , CLTAD and UAL Communities of Practice (supporting cross department and project collaboration at UAL)
Please see draft programme of events and activities of training and support for the Professional Online Identities project at CSM. The sessions below have been designed as a pilot for the The Centre for Performance programme staff and students at Central Saint Martins college of Art and Design. The programme is being designed/adapted in a specific context to meet the POI project objectives.
The project aims to identify and develop specific digital literacies/hard and soft skills (Presentation and Relational skills) in maintaining professional online identities with the aim of enhancing student/graduate employability and industry readiness.
The programme will create and adapt existing training to meet the needs of this agile developed programme, (we want to offer bespoke/new training and contexts currently not available to staff and students). We will be adding a section to the developing programme that highlights what training is currently available at UAL and how they can make the most of what there is e.g existing Learn IT training, CLTAD training and Lynda etc.

TITLE | The Objective Design Process (Session 1) |

BRIEF OVERVIEW: |
No previous skills are needed for these sessions is needed. If students already have websites and wish to talk about them during the session there will be an opportunity during a group and class crit in session 1.
This session is designed to give you the skills to be able to constructively critique existing websites and use this knowledge to develop solutions of your own so that you can build a considered, planned and clear online identity.
Everyday we use many websites, some give us a mediocre experience and some can be incredibly rewarding. The session will explore how to test websites through some basic usability testing and objectively talking about websites - good and bad.
This will then be taken forward into planning and structuring your own website where we will explore what is appropriate for you as an individual and possible ways to achieve these goals.

Session 2
Design Implementation - Blogging
Building on the last session exploring usability, objectivity and planning, this session will look at creating a blog using wordpress.com where you can explore and experiment with the skills previously learnt.
The session will look at the key elements of the Wordpress system (posts, pages, categories, templates, menus) and how these can be used to begin to generate an effective online identity.

TITLE | Session 1: Dissemination and good practice for saving rich media for use online |

BRIEF OVERVIEW: |
This session is designed to raise student awareness of media formats, for basic image editing for the web, for example file sizes resizing, compassion, naming best practices and colour profile for the web. This then will lead onto embedding audio, images and videos to websites and blogs from video and audio streaming websites such as YouTube, Vimeo and Blip TV. It will give an overview of the relationship between HTML and CSS and Flash Websites in respect to accessibility. |
