Introduction into digital copyright

A mystery revealed - Copyright, design, trade mark and patents for students (Workshop 1) | Online Identities Pilot Programme 2013/14

This pilot programme will explore the challenges and benefits of delivering web making support training for final year students and staff on the Performance Design and Practice (PDP) course at Central Saint Martins.

TITLE Introduction into digital copyright
DATE & TIME 18 November 2013 - 5pm to 6pm
LOCATION D105 CSM
FACILITATOR: Silvia Baumgart
PARTICIPANTS: Performance Design and Practice (PDP) course at Central Saint Martins ONLY
BRIEF OVERVIEW:

Many people think that the internet has completely altered the position of copyright – some even belief that copyright is not relevant online. This workshop will bust some myths surrounding digital copyright and explain the current difficulties we have with enforcing copyright – and what this means for you.

This interactive workshop is facilitated by Silvia Baumgart, Own-it Programme Manager, and will cover

  • Basic concepts of copyright, design right, trade mark, confidentiality and patents
  • What to consider when sharing your work online and promoting yourself
  • What to consider if you use other people’s material in your own work

There is plenty of time for questions and you can also bring work or prepare questions – we will try to answer them.

These workshops are organised by Own-it for DIAL.
