Creative Commons - sharing and promoting your work online (Workshop 2) | Online Identities Pilot Programme 2013/14

Creative Commons is sometimes misunderstood as providing some sort of alternative to copyright. In fact, the whole system is based on the principle that authors of creative work should keep control over their work. It is a simple to use and effective licensing system, which makes it easy to share work with others and promote yourself online.

This pilot programme will explore the challenges and benefits of delivering web making support training for final year students and staff on the Performance Design and Practice (PDP) course at Central Saint Martins.

BRIEF OVERVIEW:

  • what Creative Commons is exactly
  • the various licenses that are available
  • how best to use CC for your own promotion
  • how to use other people’s work under a Creative Commons license
  • advantages and disadvantages of using Creative Commons licenses
  • common pitfalls

There will be time to answer your questions
