UPDATE: Congratulations to Winner: African Virtual University voted the "Most Progressive" resource in the second Education-Portal.com OpenCourseWare (OCW) People's Choice Awards. process.arts are really pleased to have been Finalist in this award along side Mozilla Open Badges, read more and the Winner and Finalists here.

Process.arts is a fitting open education site for art students and teachers. Operating through the University of the Arts London, this is a place for artists to collaborate on arts practices, research and ideas. But it's also a place for the same users to collaborate on how the site functions. It's an experimental open education resource that's part formal education site and part social network. It's like a group of poets workshopping not only their art, but the workshop itself. As our voters noted, the site is 'constructed with the principles of community building in mind,' placing a high value on 'openness in informal thinking.'

Most Progressive:

  • Process Arts is an online, open educational resource from the University of the Arts London. The goal of the project is for students and staff of the university to share their daily research and knowledge. It's a format for these individuals to exchange educational materials and go beyond the traditional educational setting to expand learning abilities.
  • African Virtual University, established in 1997, is an African educational resource, providing free education to individuals on that continent. The university bridges language barriers by offering multilingual materials.
  • Open Badges is a Mozilla project designed to help individuals and organizations easily display badges for accomplishments that were gained outside of a traditional degree program and that wouldn't be apparent from looking at a college transcript. The program makes it easy for open educational institutions to award badges of achievement to individuals who complete open courses or gain other achievements in an open education environment.
