Creative Practice Based Online Learning

This initiative aims to bring together a cross section of interested individuals and institutions to share, explore and develop new, experimental and creative models for creative practice based online learning.

Objectives:

  • Form new collaborations across education (schools, colleges and universities) and government sectors (Museums and Galleries), creative industries and independent arts communities.
     
  • The collaboration partners will explore and contrast the different formal and informal learning approaches within their specialist areas with an aim of identifying common challenges and new opportunities for online learning within the art and design sector.
     
  • The group will take an experimental approach to identifying and developing new approaches and initiatives for delivering engaging inclusive online environments and eco systems for creative practice based subjects within the open educational movement.

The community will include a number of collaborative partners who remain independent and contribute to the mutually beneficial outcomes of the group:

A unique specialist artsMOOC network for those in the creative industries who are considering enhancing their current face-to-face offer with MOOCs. A new experimental social enterprise approach to integrating online open educational practice into practical face-to-face based arts subjects, bringing together a unique ‘hands on’ research and development network/consortium.

Artsmooc pilot proposals:

The NO Collective: is interested in working with the artsMOOC project to develop and create a series of arts learning program's that we can market as an online facility. "we endeavour to make contemporary performance an participatory artworks accessible to a diverse range of social and cultural groups."

MOOC: Open Data as Creative Material: As open data plays an increasingly significant role in shaping society, it is important for artists and designers to consider the meaning and impact of data for our social, political and cultural lives. This MOOC would enable participants to consider uses of open data for art and design practice, and to critically evaluate the promise of open data to democratise information flows and access.

 

University of the Arts London (UAL):

DIAL project: The Digital Integration into Arts Learning (DIAL) project is a community based approach to developing digital literacies and online practice. DIAL develops and supports self-identifying and sustaining communities of practice in the creation of new resources, processes and learning networks. DIAL also provides mentorship and incentives, and supports partnerships and collaboration across projects.
