i-mpact Information resource for Media Professionals and Academics Collaborating in Teaching
i-mpact (Information resource for Media Professionals and Academics Collaborating in Teaching) is the culmination and output of an ADM-HEA fellowship which was awarded in 2008 to develop an online resource for media educators and an Open University Score Fellowship, awarded in 2011, to encourage Open Education Resource (OER) generation and sharing within the fields of film and media studies. http://www.i-mpact.org.uk/
The initial stage of the project was completed at institutional level: the creation of an online resource to a Beta testing stage housing and distributing un-manipulated film and video footage, the raw materials for filmmaking and visual storytelling for use in teaching exercises, assignment work and for peer review in the field of professional media practice. The second stage of the project aims to provide and share further audiovisual resources, links to resources and practices via this web-site, for use in teaching, learning and research, in media and film disciplines and beyond, and to build a user and contributor community around these resources.
i-mpact is the project of Sarah Atkinson: Principal Lecturer in Broadcast Media in the Faculty of Arts at the University of Brighton. Sarah is also currently working on ARTS-OER: a project which aims to develop the potential of OERS and open educational practises in art, design and media subjects at the University of Brighton, which is part of the ALTO UK project (Arts Learning and Teaching Online). She is also the Higher Education Consultant for SP-ARK, the Sally Potter Archive, and a regular contributor to Process Arts. You can read about and access all of these projects and more on this site.
