Aims & Objectives |
The project aims to engage staff and students in a debate around issues of professional online identities through online networks and face to face workshops/drop in discussion and support sessions. Create a ‘Developing online professional identities’ blog to engage a wider audience and cluster and crowd source information and resources Baseline current practice in this area by identifying good practice, case studies and feedback Create resources and information Identify course staff who could pilot/develop resources and processes in curriculum September Event Each industry speaker each give a 15 minute talk, then to be available at a table or separate room for discussion and network University Professionals to showcase talk about what they are currently doing with technology which could cover, blogs, twitter, Drupal (open source CMS for websites), discussion about the debate around the issues of social media intruding and blurring the line between professional and personal identity how this is perceived by students. After a series of talks 6 or 8 speakers for 15 mins then 2 hours and then a break and then opportunity to speak in more depth with 3 of the speakers. Other things discussed, setting up a dedicated web page for progress and linked from each department. Learn-IT to establish which training is required for staff in technologies that support their teaching and which of these trainings can be delivered by expert University staff. |

I think this project is a great collaboration opportunity and is hopefully the beginning of a new a timely college and sector debate and event/s.
I’ll be working on this as part of DIAL, and as discussed are happy to develop the online community space using the DIAL budget, DIAL objectives can been seen here - http://dial.myblog.arts.ac.uk/2012/02/10/objectives/ specifically – 6 Students 2) Improved graduate employability by enhancing presentation skills and professional online identities.
